Getting to 1.5-hr of phone usage per day

Period: 1 April to 31 May

Hypothesis

By using my phone a more moderate amount per day will:

  1. Increase my connectedness with myself & those around me

  2. Increase my attention span & focus

  3. Improve my short term memory

  4. Reduce stress & dependence on digital content

Foreseeable Challenges:

  1. By using my phone less I may use my laptop more - this is ok and expected

  2. I may use it more than 12 hour, then I need to rather limit the social usage. Should ‘Productivity’ usage be allowed

  3. It’s difficult to measure many before/after elements since they can be subjective and I don’t have historical happiness data.

Approach

  1. Start 1 April 2024, End 31 May 2024

  2. Record my current usage over the past 2 months

  3. Place rules one start/end time at least

  4. Remove notifications

  5. Measure my happiness/stress on excel or other

  6. Record weekly the results and my positioning and performance
