‘I like that boulder’

Hypothesis

Bouldering is a healthy mental and physical exercise and releases healthy dopamine. By doing this regularly I will increase my concentration, physical strength, emotional connection with friends that I do it with and self belief through achieving small difficult challenges.

Approach

  1. Climb 1 time during the week by myself and 1 time on the weekend with a friend.

  2. Record my performance on the coloured ratings over time

  3. Assess connection with mates

  4. Assess concentration duration at work, home and in meditation

Result

Honestly, I enjoy the sport but it is not essential to me. I climbed once per week for 2 months and it did have a material effect on physical performance and self believe since you are consistently tackling small challenges. Therefore the hypothesis is confirmed, but would I continue this practice to maintain both those outcomes, no!

Conclusion, it’s a really fun sport and highly recommend to take it up for the obvious physical and mental attributes but for me it is not an essential practice to maintain.
